ESCAPE TO SAFETY EXHIBITION IN LANCASTER AS PART OF CITY OF SANCTUARY
Multimedia refugee exhibition and Journey of Discovery Where: Friends Meeting House, Meeting House Lane (next to the train station), Lancaster When: Saturday 23rd January 9.30 – 4.30pm
Come be a refugee for 13 minutes. Don headphones and accompany 3 refugees on their journey through a labyrinth of rooms, which represent different stages on the journey to safety. Escape your country. Cross a border. Try to get to the UK where they believe in human rights. Apply for asylum. Get detained. Get deported. Get refugee status…. Welcome to Britain. Global Link is re-launching its first incarnation of Escape to Safety, built in 1999. Funding for our Escape to Safety exhibition built into a trailer ceased in 2012. In response to the current refugee crisis, we are renovating our original exhibition, an indoor construction of 16’ x 20’.
‘It was brilliant – I especially liked the soundtrack – it was much better and helpful than only writing. The soundtrack brought it all to life.’ ‘
It was extremely realistic and gave me a good idea about the life of a refugee.’
‘Everyone should see this.’
